Super MP3 Recorder is billed as an audio recorder, editor and player, but is essentially an audio recorder with editing and playing functions.
It can record audio from any source, as long as it runs through your PC (Winamp, games, websites etc.), and lets you save the resulting files in any of the following formats: MP3, WAV, WMA, VQF and OGG.
A timer function lets you schedule recording to start and stop at predefined times, thus allowing you to record when you're not there.
The best recording format is automatically selected, but you can manually alter this to record in mono or stereo (8-bit or 16-bit), and select the frequency too.
When recording in MP3 format, you can specify both the sample rate and bit rate.
Basic editing tools are provided, but you are limited to fade in/out, insert silence and alter scale.
It can, of course, play audio files in any of the formats specified above, but that's about all it can do - there's no playlist support or media library, etc.
Super MP3 Recorder Pro 6.2 has a voice-activation system you can use to skip silent passages or to stop the recording after a certain amount of silence.
