Amanda Congdon, the former host of the Rocketboom video blog, has taken her latest project on the road across America.

Amanda Across America will see her travel across the States in a hybrid vehicle, posting videos on the way.

Rocketboom is a three-minute daily video blog which is downloaded up to 300,000 times, according to reports.

The site was setup by Andrew Baron in October 2004 who hired Congdon via an advert on online classified site Craig's List

Congdon left Rocketboom in June this year claiming that she was fired, but Baron alleges that she quit to pursue an acting career in Los Angeles.

Baron apparently gave Congdon a 49 per cent share of Rocketboom. The two are currently in a dispute as to whether the agreement still stands.

Congdon's new project is sponsored by Environmental Countdown, a group that uses online video to highlight the issues of climate change.

"I am back on video and I am going on a road trip across the country with three of my favourite people in the world, and we are being sponsored by the Natural Resources Defense Council, Environment Countdown and Ford," Congdon said in a video message.

"I am really excited about going in a hybrid vehicle and meeting all these bloggers and politicians and environmentalists along the way. I'm just so happy to be back and doing fun things everyday."

The site will be updated from Monday to Saturday with new photos, videos and blog entries.

The trip starts in Connecticut, the location of Congdon's parents' house which she moved back to after leaving Rocketboom. The trip will take five weeks and go via New York and finish in Los Angeles.
