The US Securities and Exchange Commission will meet representatives from the
financial community today to see if lessons can be learned from the current
credit crisis.
The roundtable will discuss ways in which greater transparency can be
provided to investors. This will include better ways to explain complex
financial instruments and proposals are being put forward on how to give
investors more useful and timely access to high-quality information.
All discussions will be closely associated with how such disclosure of
information could have helped prevent the current financial crisis that is
sweeping the global markets.
