PC Help: How to quickly access files on the Windows Desktop

Go direct to your desktop

Scott Colvey, Computeract!ve 09 May 2008

If you ever find yourself with multiple windows open in Windows XP or Vista and need to access a file or folder on the Windows Desktop, there is a quick and easy way to do so.

Rather than clicking on the all-windows-minimise button, simply hold down the Windows key on your keyboard (usually bottom left, to the right of Ctrl) and tap D. This minimises all open windows to the Taskbar, and displays the Desktop.
