Sony has just launched a triumvirate of new Clies and here we are taking a look at the top of the updated models, the delightfully named PEG-T675C.
The PEG-T675C is an upgraded version of the superb PEG-T625C. The two share a very similar appearance - the PEG-T675C having the same neat, silver casing and rather nice, if a little small, graphite application shortcut buttons sitting beneath the screen.
There are some key differences between the devices though. The main difference is the faster 66MHz processor in this new Clie, which speeds up all handheld computing tasks.
Sony has also bundled its very own MP3 audio player as seen before on the PEG-N770C. A hold button and headphone socket sit on the left side of the case accompanying Sony's jog-dial controller.
The audio player tops off a very nice software bundle. Sony's aim is to make the Clie an entertainment device as well as an information repository and to that end, AudioPlayer is joined by a remote control application which makes he Clie into a remote control for a TV, DVD player or stereos, for example.
PictureGear is a simple image editor, PhotoStand turns your Clie into a desktop picture frame and Movie plays digital videos. In addition, the high-resolution 320 x 320 pixel colour screen is suitable for playing simple games.
Battery life is quoted at about 12 days of normal use but will prove itself to be a lot less if you use the more power-hungry applications a lot.
You can also add up to 128MB more memory, thanks to the Memory Stick slot. All told, the PEG-T675C is a very nice handheld computer and an impressive alternative to a Pocket PC machine.
