Vista and Office 2007 set for 30 January debut

Windows Vista and Office 2007 are both set for availability on 30 January 2007, according to ordering information listed on retail site Amazon.com. The information appears to confirm speculation that the two products will be launched at the same time.

The next versions of Windows and Office were originally due to ship sometime in the final quarter of 2006, but Microsoft announced delays to both products earlier this year. The company declined to confirm the exact release date, but reiterated that both products would be available sometime in January.

The Amazon.com listing also discloses prices for various editions of Vista, with Windows Vista Ultimate priced at $399 (£210), Windows Vista Business at $299 (£157), and the Home and Home Premium versions at $199 (£105) and $239 (£126). A further version, Windows Vista Enterprise, will only be available to businesses under volume licensing.

Microsoft volume licensing customers are still expected to get access to Office 2007 from the end of October, and final Windows Vista code in November. However, few businesses are expected to deploy Vista until it is available pre-installed on new PC systems following the official launch.
