Asus has confirmed that latest
additions to its white-hot range of mini laptops will be available in the UK
from 1 July.
The Eee PC 901
is based on a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, has an 8.9in screen and in-built
support for 802.11n and Bluetooth. The Windows XP version comes with a 12GB
solid state drive, while the Linux version has 20GB.
The Eee PC 1000 comes with 40GB SSD, while the 1000h includes an 80GB hard
drive.
Early reports suggest that all models will offer improved battery life, with
the new 6-cell battery offering up to 7.8-hours for the 901 model; 7.5-hours of
battery for Eee PC 1000; 7 hours for Eee PC 1000H
Pricing details for the UK have not yet been disclosed, although in Taiwan,
where the new minis are already shipping, the 901 costs NT$16,988 (£287); the
1000 NT$19,988 (£338) and the 1000h NT$18,988 (£321).
