The downside of the current trend for bigger, faster processors and graphics cards is the need for more power and cooling. All these requirements mean more fans, which tends to result in more noise. With the FSP Silent Solution Kit, you get all you need to replace noisy fans with silent alternatives.

Available for both Intel and AMD processors, the kit includes a 350w quiet power supply unit (PSU), a 92mm case fan and a processor heatsink and fan. For this review we looked at the AMD version.

The power supply is bright purple but, just on the off chance you manage to miss it, the fan is lit by blue LEDs. Cooling is supplied by a single 120mm bottom-mounted fan, which also acts as a case cooler as it draws warm air into the supply and vents it out of the rear.

As with most of the top-quality PSUs, the main wiring loom is enclosed in a mesh tube. The six four-pin Molex connectors have two rounded tabs on them to make disconnecting them a little easier. Beside all the usual connectors there is a serial ATA power connector and a manual fan control in the rear panel.

The processor cooling fins, fan mount and processor contact are aluminium, while the base is copper. The mounting clip is of the usual three-pin design, with the addition of a useful thumb tab on one side.

As a lot of cases only have fixings for 80mm fans, FSP has thoughtfully supplied a 92-80mm adapter with the kit. The 92mm case fan is a dual ball bearing type, has a quoted noise level of 20dB and comes with a thermal sensor to control fan speed.

For a one-stop package, you get some impressive kit that will easily silence a noisy PC.
