Seiko has come up with a rival to Visioneer's popular PaperPort for reading business cards. It's a dedicated reader with software that makes a fair stab at placing components of a card into the appropriate fields of a database.
Like PaperPort's CardScan software, it shows an image of the card next to the text, as recognised, so that you can amend it where necessary.
Unlike the PaperPort, it is useless for scanning anything except cards, but it costs less at #190 (ex VAT). And, judging only from a demonstration, it may be more accurate.
Seiko has also launched two label printers for a variety of uses, including addressing envelopes. The SLP 120 (#150) and 220 (#185) differ mostly in their print speeds. It also offers SmartLobby which monitors visitors and prints pass badges.
