Chinese giant High Tech Computer Corp (HTC) is the latest manufacturer to
attempt a truly mobile working platform.
Its Advantage X7500 measures 13.35 x 9.8 x1.6 cm and weighs 359g with
battery, though the specs do not make clear whether this weight includes the
detachable keyboard.
This doubles a screen cover, which increases the thickness to 2cmIt has a 5in
touch-sensitive TFT screen, a 3-megapixel camera and a VGA webcam, an 8Gb
hard-disk, a miniSD slot that is SDHC compatible, which means that it can use
Sandisk's latest 4Gb miniSD cards.
It runs Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC edition on a 624MHz Intel PA270
processor with ATI W2284 graphics.
The X7500 support Bluetooth 2.0, Wifi 11b/g, HSDPA, and quad-band
GSM/GPRS//Edge, and will be sold from March 17 in the UK by T-Mobile; the guide
price is €1099 (£732), but this is likely to depend on your contract. By
contrast an entry-level Samsung ultra-mobile PC running XP Tablet edition costs
on a 7in screen £597 ex Vat
