The website of
Spreadfirefox.com, a
group that advocates using
Mozilla technologies, has
been taken down by hackers for the second time in three months.
The main Mozilla site was not affected, and Spreadfirefox.com said that it
does not believe any personal information was accessed.
"After Spreadfirefox.com was compromised in July, we
instituted procedures to ensure that we apply all security fixes to the software
running the site (Drupal and PHP) as soon as they become available," said the
team.
"Unfortunately, those procedures overlooked the installation of the TWiki
software since it is not used by the main Spreadfirefox.com site.
"When the system is rebuilt, all the software will be audited to ensure that
security updates will be applied in a timely manner."
The website is still down because the team is rebuilding it from scratch.
Users of the site are advised to change their passwords as soon as possible.
