Google has announced the
launch of SketchUp, a free version of its 3D modelling software, following its
acquisition last month of @Last Software.
Google SketchUp is
aimed at hobbyists and enthusiasts who want to build 3D models for use in
Google Earth. It allows
users to model a new kitchen, landscape a virtual garden, or design a roller
coaster or medieval castle.
When users have finished they can place their models in Google Earth, forming
the beginning of a virtual world.
Users can also share their work through the
3D
Warehouse. Accessible through all versions of SketchUp, 3D Warehouse makes
it possible to upload, search, browse, view and download SketchUp models.
SketchUp
Pro 5 is also available for professionals like architects, designers,
builders, art directors and game developers, and includes additional features.
