IBM has fleshed out its range of disk and tape storage products aimed at SMEs and larger organisations.

Benefits cited include cost savings, integrated data security and enhanced archival solutions aimed at meeting compliance requirements.

"The new storage offerings and enhancements will enable customers of all sizes to maintain highly resilient, high-performance, next-gen network infrastructures," said Barry Rudolph, vice president of storage stack solutions at IBM.

The company has revamped its N7000 series for large enterprises as an appliance and gateway.

The N7700 and N7900 offer improved storage for large scale data centres, in addition to storage consolidation for large open system enterprises and medium sized firms.

The systems support up to 1,176TB of capacity for large data centres in a bid to meet increased storage needs.

Customers will also be able to consolidate San and Nas storage requirements into a single platform, storing regulatory compliant data retention and archival storage on one system.

The new SME line-up features the N3300 and N3600 supporting Sata or Sas drives in the controller. The N3300 offers increased storage of up to 68TB, while the N3600 offers up to 104TB.

IBM also announced that SnapManager for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server is now available on all N series systems.

The N7700 and the N7900 will be available worldwide from 18 April starting at $125,000 and $190,000 respectively. Pricing for the N3300 and the N3600 models was not announced.
