BT has taken the wraps off its all-inclusive Total Broadband Anywhere package which includes a free smartphone as part of the deal.

The new package bundles BT's existing Total Broadband service in the home with the new mobile service and will cost from £23.99 per month, £5 more than the standard BT Total Broadband option.

Customers will have a choice of two BT ToGo smartphones, the HTC S620 or HTC S710, both of which run Windows Mobile 6 and include all the usual features found in today's smartphones.

"Broadband Anywhere customers get the total broadband experience: BT's top-of-the-range broadband service at home, and a free BT ToGo smartphone for when out and about," said John Petter, managing director for consumer at BT.

"When shopping, waiting for a train or having a coffee, Broadband Anywhere enables you to read emails, check the football score or compare prices."

Like the iPhone, the BT ToGo automatically connects to a Wi-Fi hotspot when in range, routing internet access over Wi-Fi and providing cheaper calls through BT Broadband Talk.

Data usage over Wi-Fi is unlimited, but there is a 10MB monthly download allowance when out of range of a Wi-Fi signal. Further data usage is charged at £1.50 per megabyte.

The basic package includes 50 call minutes and 50 texts and costs £23.99 per month for the first three months and £29.99 thereafter with a minimum contract period of 18 months.

The service also includes features such as BT Snap & Send, which allows users taking photos with the BT ToGo to upload the images to a personal online BT Digital Vault.
